Sales have been declining for the Apple but CEO Tim Cook is looking to counter the losses with a new trade-in program for the iPhone.
Apple has teamed up with mobile-phone distributor Brightstar Corp. for the new exchange program. The program will be a catalyst for user to trade in older iPhone 4′s and 4S’s so they can be used in emerging markets.
The program will offer money to consumers who trade in their devices, according to Roger Entner, an analyst at Recon Analytics LLC, “This will help them sell more phones, because it will lower the consumer’s out-of-pocket expense.”
Apple has yet to announce the plan publicly but it’s expected to launch soon. In May, Samsung because the best-selling smartphone brand in the U.S. according to a recent report published by Michael Walkley, an analyst at Canaccord Genuity Inc.
