The iPhone 5S and 5C this year were released with minimal design changes but the next iPhone release could possibly feature some major physical changes.
Bloomberg has reported from sources close to the matter that Apple is developing two models slated to be released during the second half of next year with larger glass displays that curves downward at the edges. In addition to the new displays the unidentified source revealed, the new iPhone models will be equipped with new sensors that can distinguish heavy or light touches on the screen.
The two new iPhone models will feature the largest iPhone models to date with screens of 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, respectively. This move is a clear indication of Apple responding to its main competitor Samsung. The South Korean company is known for developing smartphones with large displays. One of their latest models, the Galaxy Note 3 debuted in September with a 5.7 inch display.
When asked about the rumor Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris declined to comment on the matter.
